TSA Opens Family Lanes At Major Airports For Travelers Flying With Children

TSA opens family lanes at major airports for travelers flying with children.  Over the past few months the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has been testing family lanes to help travelers with children, pass through security with more ease.

As many of you know, who fly on a routine basis, going through TSA is sometimes a very stressful one to two minutes.  We are all rushing to take our laptops out of bags, making sure our cell phones and other metal objects that may go off are placed on the security conveyor belt.

Overcoats, jackets, pocket books and shoes all must be placed in special tubs and passed through the conveyor belt.  It's still unbelievable the number of items, especially bottled water, shampoo, toothpaste and other items that exceed the TSA three ounce liquid restrictions, that are confiscated daily.  The last time I flew out of  DFW, TSA showed me five tubs of confiscated items they had picked up in just a few short hours.  The family lanes at 45 of the major U.S. airports, have special scanners to screen large bottles and baby formula that exceed the three ounce rule.  Many airports this Thanksgiving holiday will have these lanes set up, one for first class and elite frequent flyers, one for casual travelers and one for families.
