Many of us sign up for the airlines affinity cards to earn frequent flyer miles. Continental has added a more valuable perk in these days of fees, fees, and more fees.
Continental is offering free checked baggage not only for the card holder but, for all travel partners who are on the same record or booking itinerary.
If you have Continental Airlines primary card you get your first bag checked free for you and all traveling partners on the same flight record.
If you hold Continental Airlines Presidential Plus card you get your first and second bag checked for free, and again all travelers on the same record get the free checked baggage allowance up to 50lbs. per bag.
A family of four checking 2 bags each (making it a total of eight bags roundtrip) could save $320 in baggage fees on one trip.
It is not clear if you need to charge your plane tickets to the card to get the free checked baggage. It appears that the primary card holder needs only to give their OnePass frequent flyer number to qualify.
