Heathrow's Terminal 5 Growing Pains Lead To More Cancellations

British Airways canceled flights Wednesday, April 2, 2008 and announced additional cancellations for Thursday, April 3, 2008. A total of 50 flights were cancelled for Wednesday and, so far, 34 flights have already been cancelled for Thursday.

If you are traveling on British Airways, especially to, through, or from Heathrow Airport, be sure to check with the carrier for the status of your flights.

A variety of problems have plagued the brand new terminal since it's grand opening last week. Chief among the problems was the new state-of-the-art baggage system. As misplaced baggage continue to pile up, British Airways has sought help from Italy's Milan airport as well as transporter Fed Ex in an attempt to get passengers and their luggage reunited as quickly as possible, although a spokesperson admitted it could be "over the next few weeks" before the problem is completely resolved.
