Students can save money both at home and abroad with the ISIC card, or International Student Identity Card. The card offers discounts at museums, cultural sites, air, rail, bus and ferry travel, youth hostels, hotels, entertainment, attractions and shopping in 106 countries across the globe.

The card is available to full time students ages 12 to 25 and costs $22 per year. There is also an IYIC card (International Youth Identity Card) for those who are under 26, but not full time students, and an ITIC card (International Teacher Identity Card) for teachers. The youth and teacher cards do not offer as many discounts, but are can still be worthwhile.
Sample ISIC discounts in the U.S. include 15 percent off Amtrak fares, free entrance to the Miami Art Museum and 10 percent of YMCA stays in New York City. Sample international discounts include 20% off Swebus Express bus and tram tickets in Sweden, 50 percent off entrance to the Natural History Museum in Santiago, Chile and 10 percent off stays at Hostels of Mexico.
